Formally known as Barnet International Folk Dance Club, we changed our name in 2025 to reflect our focus on dances from the Balkans.

We are a friendly group, always open to new members and visitors.  The atmosphere is very informal and light-hearted.  We meet to learn and participate in folk dances from many countries.

No skill or knowledge of folk dancing is required.  Most of the dances are open circle dances, so you don't need a partner.

Dunav meets on 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from September to July from 7.30-10.00 pm at Church House, 2, Wood Street, Barnet, EN5 4BW.

Barnet International Folk Dance Club (BIFDC) was founded in 1962 by Henry Morris, an enthusiast for the British folk music revival at that time and also for Balkan music.  From the 1960s, BIFDC became firmly established in dancing circles, flourishing under the leadership of Brian Dowsett.  So it continued for many decades, with an amazing explosion of new material, particularly Balkan, in the recreational folk dance scene.  Indeed BIFDC became a leading light and the model for Balkanplus.
